42-39917 LADY SATAN
MACR 2894
Have not yet identified these crew members, although my guess is
the officer in the middle is Pilot Harold G. Holland. Any help would
be appreciated.

Lady Satan was damaged by flak and later shot down by several Me-109's, which
attacked with rockets. All crew members bailed out. The plane crashed at
Jornstorf, 4km NE of Neubukow/Mecklenburg or 25km WSW of Rostock, Germany.
Raines was shot in the lung by fighter fire, and he was sent to the hospital in Rerik
where he died. He was buried in the New Cemetery at Rerick, Section 3, row 9, and
later reinterred in the cemetery in the Ardennes. Karpeles and Pilosi suffered
head wounds and were hospitalized in Rerik.
The plane was serviced by Crew Chief Dick Higgonboton and mechanic Albert
Becker.
