This plane was ditched in the English Channel. 2LT
Milton Mard was awarded the Soldier's Medal for his
efforts in saving the crew. SGT Soucy was awarded a
Silver Star for his heroic action on this mission.
Additional notes: My uncle, Robert F Kerr, flew his first
mission on April 24, 1944 as Mard's co-pilot. The crew
was the same with the exception of Sgt Koster.
