MISSION #196 TARGET: BERLIN
FEB 3, 1945

This plane was flying #2 high element of the lead squadron. It
peeled away from the formation and headed back to Russia or
Sweden at @ 1150 hours at coordinates 53*10'N, 12*30'E. The
plane was flying at about 25-26,000 feet but dropped down
several hundred feet. All props were still turning. (Reported by
Lt Furbish flying #4 lead element of squadron). Co-pilot of
aircraft #827 flying #6 in lead element of lead squadron heard
A/C #43-38358 say he had one engine flaming and was heading
east.
The aircraft #43-38358 made it to Rinkaby Airfield in Sweden at
1400 hours with two engines feathered. All but one of the crew
were safe. TSGT Clark was hit by a flak burst and had an injured
back. he was hospitalized at Kristianstad. After VE Day, the
plane was sent to the graveyard in Arizona.
